Without a doubt this is our favourite walk. With us living on opposite sides of the river, Captain Burke Park, under the Story Bridge, is a convenient spot to meet in the middle.

From Captain Burke Park we head up Main St, walk over the Story Bridge, then take a left down Ivory Lane and get onto the Riverside Boardwalk.  We follow the Boardwalk around to the City Botanic Gardens, cross the Goodwill bridge, then take a left and follow the Kangaroo Point Cliffs back to the beginning.

Maybe it’s the reward of a delicious PUK Collective coffee at the end that makes it so appealing, but it’s also a very scenic walk on relatively easy terrain. There is a lot of shade when you head through the Botanic Gardens, but apart from that it’s mostly in the sun. It’s a good walk for early morning or late afternoon, or during the day in the cooler months. This walk has easy inclines and no stairs to negotiate. If the kids get restless there are plenty of places to stop to have a quick play. We’ve done this walk many times with prams and with older kids on bikes too.

We love this walk because:

  1. Awesome coffee at the end (PUK Collective, 98 Main St, Kangaroo Point)
  2. Fairly flat terrain with concreted paths the whole way (great for prams)
  3. Some shady parts with playgrounds for the kids
  4. Central location

Distance: Approximately 7.5km (allow 1.5-2 hours)

Get out there and give this one a go!

Stay Active!
